Lice prevention is actually very simple. I am exposed to lice almost every day and have never been infected, not counting my childhood. Before going to work every day my hair goes up in a braid, bun or pony tail and I use my Mint Spray. There are natural herbs that repel lice; Peppermint, rosemary, citronella, lavender and eucalyptus to name a few. I use peppermint because most children like its smell and it is safe for pregnant moms to use. On top of using my Mint Spray I have to do regular head checks on myself with my NitFree comb. Using preventative sprays are simply that, prevention. It is not a fail-safe! Yes a louse is less likely to want to go to the head of someone that smells like peppermint but it is not impossible for this to happen. I do head checks at least once a week and immediately after a really buggy job. On some of my buggier days I do occasionally come home with little hitchhikers. Ewwwwww! No big deal though. I grab my comb and pull those little pests out before they have time to start trouble. These are some simple things to do to stop or minimize lice troubles. Early detection of lice saves you a whole lot of trouble.
- If possible, style your child's hair into a braid, tight bun or ponytail before school or daycare. This creates less of a swinging gateway for lice to get on your child's head. Advise against head to head contact with other children.
- Use your Professional Lice Mom Mint Spray daily, paying special attention to behind the ears, nape of neck and the crown of head.
- Use your Professional Lice Mom NitFree Terminator Lice and Nit Comb to do regular head checks. Head checks should be done at least once a week or immediately after exposure to head lice.
